Hi friends,

Just sharing with you my experience on 11th March 2011, The Earthquake day at Japan !!!

As usual we finished our lunch from hotel and went back to office. Swiped my card at the main door to enter office.
Suddenly security guard announced something in Japanese. I didn’t understand. Then I heard my colleague was calling from behind.
Full shake started. Glass doors were moving. The receptionist was screaming. Then alarm rang inside me because these people who are used to earthquake and screaming means there is some big problem there.. Time to run.. Ran outside the building.. Not getting balance on ground because of the shake. Somehow went out and stood at some distance and started watching outside.Oh.. the nearby 20 floor building is swaying !!!! But Toshiba building is not swaying.

One Japanese guy who was nearby us told in English “I am here for last 15 years.. this the first time like this " ... !!!!!!!!

fear generated inside me and same time amusement.. wonder.. still looking at that building..

I was planning if that building falls...which direction I should run?. But nobody was coming out of that building.. why??

After 5 mins, shake stopped. All the Japanese who came out, went to their buildings.

We spent some more time outside to make sure about the conditions. Then slowly entered the building with fear inside.

Oh !! the lift is not working.. Have to use steps. My desk is at 11 floor…. Started climbing…. In between went and met our colleagues in the 6th floor. They were there when the quake happened.

People are watching the news there.. Frightening view of tsunami hit coastal area of Japan footage. Hundreds of houses, cars are floating on water.

I did not want to go to 11 floor. Today is my last working day at Japan L

2 days back, there was a small shake happened here and I enjoyed it as first experience. But this one is not enjoyment.. It is frightening.

After sometime I went to 11 floor. On the way through steps again shake started!! Japanese guys asked us to go inside the room.

I went inside the room and stood there. No one is there... Then I saw that they were hiding under the table with helmet on.. Again alarm rang inside me

Ran and hid under one table. After 2 mins, shake stopped.

Went to 11 floor and there I saw our Maeda san was sitting on floor :) He told this is heavy earth quake and showed a building got fire far away.
Took my belongings and packed everything as its my last working day and went back to 6th floor itself.

All the Japanese were telling, this is a heavy one. Don’t go outside. This building is safe.

News was that japans main transportation system "railway" stopped service. Then the worry was about our next day flight schedule.

Finally after discussion with everyone and based on situation, out flight is postponed.

At night, while going back to hotel, we saw a long queue on the footpath. It was for entering bus. People are calmly waiting to get into bus.

When we reached room, saw that all the items were fell on floor. Small shakes were still happening. Slowly got used to it.
That queue was still there at midnight. So much of patience they have. Amazing people!! Can’t imagine it in India!!!

While sleeping on bed also, room was shaking…..

Climax and end phase of story follows ……… later J
